Hello there! I'm Richie and you're watching IGCritic! Every so often a new and awesome looking MMORPG pops up with fresh mechanics and features that we’ve never seen before. Unfortunately, most don’t stick around for too long due to lack of content of lack of interest after it turns out that the new mechanics aren’t actually as cool as we initially thought.
The top MMOs of 2016 come in various form, shapes, and business models https://motoracer-thegame.com/. So without further ado, let’s take a look at SIX most played MMORPG’s of 2016. At number 6 we have TERA Online. Last year, Bluehole Studio’s fantasy MMO Tera Online reached the status of most played MMORPG on Steam. With over 97,000 guilds and counting, it’s safe to say Tera has quite the active fanbase and is one of the popular MMOs out there. With a gigantic world to explore and dynamic combat mechanics, and gorgeous visuals, all on top of a free-to- play MMORPG model, it’s easy to argue that Tera is a game many players love, enjoy and keep going back to. While Bluehole Studio hasn’t released an exact number of active players, we could guess it might be around 100k-200k, very possibly more. With all the internet and geek fandom at large Star Wars: The Old Republic makes its way to #5. While still feeling the aftershocks of the latest Star Wars flick, The Force Awakens, Everyone eagerly waits with bated breath for the next movie installment. Until then, MMO fanatics might be interested in giving Star Wars: The Old Republic a shot. Bioware’s free-to- play / pay-to- play MMORPG takes on the massively popular franchise with a unique business model that also allows players to play for free and unlock content as they go or subscribe monthly to unlock all content at once along with some in-game bonus rewards. They certainly hit the right notes when it comes to the release of in-game events, with a constant flow of expansions being released. and an insane amount of content for first time players to bite into According to Bioware, 1 million players log in to play each month, but that doesn’t necessarily equate to the number of active players for this popular MMO, which we’re guessing might be around the 500-700k mark. Number 4 on our list is no other than The Elder Scrolls Online. We have more than a strong feeling that Bethesda’s Elders Scrolls Online lends most of its success with the userbase count to the popularity of the offline Elder Scrolls games, most prominently Skyrim! Which achieved nothing short of a god-like status with both casual and regular players alike. ESO has its faults, yes, but it’s popular. On top of that, another factor might be its availability on consoles as the game is playable on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Mac. This is something not a lot of the other MMOs can boast about. While Bethesda hasn’t released a solid number of active players, the game just might have an active subscriber base of 770k and counting. There is no monthly subscription for the game so people interested will only need to make an initial purchase then Tamriel is yours for the taking! Guild Wars 2 takes the spot at number 3. With the release of a new expansion called Heart of Thorns late last year, ArenaNet reported that their free-to- play MMO hit a 7-million player landmark. Though not all of those 7 million accounts are active players. The expansion is a buy-to-play feature but the main game is free to play so you will only need to spend some money once you’ve invested many hours in to your character. One of its most attractive features to would-be players is the openness to newbies, on top of the cool PVP, enjoyable combat and sprawling locales to explore. Often praised by critics as a fresh way to experience the MMO genre, Guild Wars 2 will most likely see more active players if they keep up the constant content updates. It’s down to the last 2 now and Final fantasy XIV takes spot at number 2. The MMO version of Square Enix’s Final Fantasy franchise retains the tone and core mechanics that is so at home in the beloved series. As such, it’s no surprise that Final Fantasy XIV has a dedicated fanbase. Featuring colossal lands to traverse, accessibility to any sort of gamer, tons of customizable content, and compelling storytelling, Final Fantasy XIV is a must-try for any hardcore Final Fantasy fan. Come on, do it for the Chocobo's! The official website boasts to have more than 5 million active subscribers, making this the 2nd biggest subscription based MMORPG available. Small wonder that the MMO juggernaut World of Warcraft still reigns supreme in terms of both number of registered users and active user count, even if you count in the fact that its numbers are constantly fluctuating, maybe it has something to do with the release of new content. It’s actually gotten to the point where Blizzard hasn’t been sharing active subs numbers. With a movie coming out this year as well as a major expansion called Legion, . the number will undoubtedly see a rise Blizzard has been keeping mum about subscriber numbers for a while now, but if we could venture a guesstimate, the number of active players is likely to be around the 5 to 6 million marks going by the tally released late last year. Even then, it’s hard to ignore World of Warcraft‘s long-held status as the most played MMORPG it’s been referred to the most in other pop culture mediums such as South Park, Recognition very few other MMOs, if any, can boast about. There you have it: Six of the most played MMORPG’s. Is your favourite game not listed here? Then let us know in the comments below, which fantasy world where you spend most of your time online? From bloody lakes to mysterious ancient landmarks, Google Earth has helped us uncover hidden secrets all over the world! Here are 14 of the strangest things caught by satellite!!! 14. Island Inception One of the things that makes our planet beautiful is that you just don't know how's it's going to form things. Meaning, you can see something from the ground level and think it's one thing, but when you get a higher perspective, something new unfolds before your eyes. Such is the case with the Philippine island of Luzon.
On this island, there is another tiny island that resides on a crater lake, that is on another island called Volcano Island. Volcano island is in a lake called Lake Taal, all of which is on Luzon itself. It’s an island, on another island, on another island! Yep, it's island Inception! How cool is that play here? Truly, something like this can only be understood from the satellite imagery, just look at it, it doesn't seem to be real, and yet, it's very real. Ironically enough though, this is NOT the largest Island Inception in the world, but in fact, there's an area in Canada that has an even bigger version of this. That's impressive. 13. The Temple Of Area 51 From natural wonders to speculation and conspiracy, a satellite once picked up an image that is supposedly near Area 51, in Nevada (if you didn't know). However, the image itself is something very odd and special. The image depicts a literal symbol inscribed in the dirt. It appears to be a sun of sorts, with indentations in each "point" of the "sun", and another indentation in the center of it. Now, it's clear that someone made that symbol, it is not naturally made. Look at the precision of it, the perfect spacing and design of the circle. It's clearly man-made, but to what end? What does it mean? And is it really a coincidence that it just so happened to be near Area 51? It's unclear at present, but it is something to think about. The mere fact that Area 51 is attached to this in any way is going to raise conspiracy theories and questions. I’m sure you have tons of questions already! What's life without a good mystery, or conspiracy? 12. Driving On the Roof Next up, how about a unique place to do races? Well, that's exactly what the Lingotto building in Turin did. This place was actually once a car manufacturing plant. And it was one with a very intriguing, and pretty brilliant, way of doing an assembly line. They literally started on the ground floor, and then, as the cars got built, they would move up higher and higher into the building. It's a fascinating way of doing it, and I wish I could've seen it. But, that's not why we're here. You see, the "final" test, if you will, was one that happened on the roof. On the roof, is a test track. Now, there are likely a lot of safety procedures and barriers on said roof to make sure that bad things don't happen to the people in the car or below them on the streets. But on a purely business level, this is another brilliant move. If you need to test one of your cars, you wouldn't have to go far to get it. It's probably just a floor below the track. Plus, you don't have to go anywhere special to test it, and you know your people will have kept the track pristine! And now for number 11, but first do you know where the largest outdoor pool in the world is located?? Let us know your answer in the comments below!! And if you are a returning subscriber welcome back! Glad to see you again!!!! Fora use fine hairs called ‘reticulopodia’ to catch their food, be it plankton or even small animals. These creatures are small but they’re experienced at life. They’re thought to date back to the Carboniferous and Permian eras so they’re living fossils going back around 300 million years! Those who feast on them also have to crunch through their shells.
These are made from stuff like sand and organic particles. The shells can be hollow tubes or spheres, or they can contain little chambers. Fora are related to algae and it’s been known for algae to actually grow inside these chambers. Kind of the ultimate deepsea apartment share! 1. Ping Pong Tree Sponge The strangest name on our list is also the nastiest! Sure, Ping Pong Tree Sponge sounds like something out of Spongebob Squarepants and it’s one beautiful-looking life form. But despite this charming exterior this isn’t a thing to be messed with! It lives nearly 9000 ft (2743 m) underwater and if you’re a small creature it spells bad news. This is a carnivorous sponge. You heard right! It’s a sponge that kills! The 50cm-tall stalk has a series of stems on top of it which hang in the water. And if you’re a crustacean and you swim too close you soon know about it. Each stem ends in a network of tiny hooks called ‘spicules’ which you can easily get caught in. What then happens is a slow and terrible death. Cells travel up to literally dissolve your body. Because the Ping Pong Tree Sponge doesn’t have internal digestion it has to do it on the outside where everyone can see it. Imagine not only being eaten but also being on display for the whole ocean to gawp at. Plus you’re alive as it happens. For such a pretty thing it has some pretty disgusting behavior… Thanks for watching! Were you surprised by any of these? Let us know in the comments below!! Be sure to subscribe and see you soon! Before that no-one knew about the transparent dome because it never survived the journey to the surface.
It stays motionless a lot of the time and spends much of its life alone. Its minuscule mouth means it has to be selective over what it can chew. The barrelfish enjoys things like zooplankton and the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute were able to record the live specimen live, swimming around in 2004 in the Mariana Trench. 4. Goblin Shark This shark is one ugly shark, hence why we call it the goblin shark! Of course I wouldn’t say that to its face poor thing! But its sword-like snout and prehistoric appearance makes it truly unique. It’s another living fossil, and hasn’t changed for millions of years. It grows up to 13 ft (4 m) in length and reaches a weight of around 200 kg so it’s not one to be messed with, not like it will mess around with us or anything. It’s a slow-moving predator that prefers to hang out on the ocean floor waiting for things to swim overhead. Its diet includes squids and crabs and it’s been known to munch on plastic which is a sad remark on the condition of the planet. The freaky thing about this shark apart from its big nose is the way it eats its prey. It has as many as 115 teeth in its head which are longer in the middle. When it goes to take a bite its joints enable the jaws to slide forward, like its teeth are coming out of its face almost. It’s bad enough being eaten by a shark in the first place without it looking like Pennywise the Clown from ‘It’! Creepy, huh? 3. Zombie Worm Zombie worms, also known as bone-eating worms, were discovered by accident in 2002 when they appeared to be drilling into the skeletons of dead animals like whales and fish. This confused experts because they looked too squishy to be able to drill like that, but that is how they got their name. The answer came later on in 2012. What the worms were doing was attaching themselves to the bone and using acid to dissolve the bones and extract the lipid goodness within. Yummy! Want to hear something else weird? There are male and female zombie worms but they’ve got a bit of a bizarre relationship. You see at first scientists believed they were all female because that’s all they could see. The males were actually inside the females, remaining in a larval state. Gives a whole new meaning to the expression ‘man trouble’! 2. Foraminifera Foraminifera or ‘fora’ are tiny organisms from the ‘protist’ family. They vary between 100 micrometers and around 20 cm. Because many of them are so small and I’m guessing chewy, they are a prime source of food in the Mariana Trench. That’s a shame because there’s a lot more to these little things than meets the eye. Not that there’s much to see in the first place what with them being tiny and all. MATT: OK, so I'm going to do a card trick based on the number 27. And this is my all-time favorite maths card trick. And I'm going to show it for you today, and I'm going to explain it. I found this trick in an old 1950's math book written by Martin Gardner. And for me it is the maths card trick with the most beautiful maths behind it out of all of them.
And because it is a math card trick, it does involve a lot of long tedious counting. But bear with us here. So this involves 27 cards, so I'm going to take 27 off. And this is a genuine count. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, 10. 27 is actually one of my favorite numbers-- One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, 10-- because it's a cubed number. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven. OK, that's 27 cards. And this works with any 27 cards, and none of this trick is slight-of-hand. None of it is YouTube magic where I'm using something sneaky, or a sneaky edit. And I'll explain the trick afterwards, so it's OK. But this is how works-- You get 27 cards, you shuffle them up Oncasinogames Canada. I'm actually going to get Brady to both film and be the volunteer. So I'll flick through, do you want to tap which one you want, which one of these? OK that one there. Do you want to show you the camera that card? Don't let me see it, obviously. And do you want to put it back in wherever you want? Thank you. Now all he needs to do is just remember what that card was, and believe me, people in the comments will mention afterwards if you don't. Brady what's your favorite number from 1 to 27, if you had to pick a number? BRADY: 10. MATT: 10, any particular reason why 10? BRADY: I just like how it looks. MATT: You like it? OK. Are you looking for your card by the way? What I want you to do is have a look, and see if you can spot which pile your card goes into. And people may have seen this trick done before. It's a variation, in fact, it's a generalization on a 21 card trick. Which pile is it in? BRADY: It's in that pile. MATT: In the middle pile there? OK, I'm going to pick them up from the viewer's right to left. And what people tend to do is they do this tedious counting out each time. And what I'm actually doing is last time I memorized all the cards. And so I when you told me which pile, I had narrowed it down to nine possible cards it could be. If I do it again, because of the way I'm dealing it out, if you tell me which pile it's in this time, I will narrow it down to one of three possible cards. Which pile is it in this time? BRADY: This time it is in the middle pile. MATT: The middle one again, there we are. OK purely coincidence, I'll pick them up again. And then we'll do it one last time again dividing by 3, and this is why 27 is 3 cubed. If you say which one it's in I will know, having memorized all the cards, exactly one in one, or I will know precisely which card it is. And that's just the pure information of this trick. Which one's it in? BRADY: That one. MATT: That one over there. Cool, OK. So now to be fair all of that wasn't true. Well the numbers were true, and the number of cards it could've been going from 27 to nine, to three, to one, that is completely accurate. I wasn't bothering to memorize them though, I was doing something else slightly different. What was your card? You can tell me now. BRADY: It was the king of hearts. MATT: King of hearts, and what was your favorite number? BRADY: 10. MATT: OK. Watch this. Here we go. Ready? One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, 10. King of hearts. So this trick, you can put the card-- even though you don't know what it is-- as long as they tell you which pile it's in, you can put it anywhere in that deck. So if you say any number, after three lots of dealing it out, I can put the card into that position. And that is my all-time favorite maths based card trick. Do you want to know how it works? Each student seeks his own way to the studies that fits best, you know yours?
Study as we all know, is not an easy task, especially when it comes to studying for the last year of high school where most of your grades and activities at school will take you to the desired university. It is true that each senior student seeks its way to the studies that better fit. In this article I discuss the following question: Is it better to study alone or in a group of friends? Many people will probably say they prefer to study alone, however, will be to study alone the best choice for the students of the last year? I consider as the primary favorable factor for those who decide to study alone, the issue of what I call freedom of research, in other words, your programming is done by yourself, and settles in the best way without depending on anyone, for example, study what you want, when you want and as long as you want, something that in a study group, you can not because you depend on others to study. Another factor that can highlight here is the question of organization. In the case of studying alone, you have to only worry about you and how you will organize materials studies and time daily studies, say so. In the group studied, organization starts at the time of forming the group, that is, how many people will join the group. Think of dates and locations compatible to all, are also part to really work the study group. One point I see advantage in study group is the fact that one can take a moment of strip-doubt, of course it will always have one friend who has a difficulty in the matter X and the other in the article Y thus one helps the other when necessary. While alone in the study, you do not have someone to help you, but nothing that a conversation with a teacher the next day to solve that, right? The great fact is that there are numerous forms and ways of studying. You just need to find your, adapt and of course study and everything will work out. In a growing and hyper-connected world, more students than ever before are starting to go to another country to study at a university. Nearly every American university has at least some international students studying full time at their institution.
Of course, this does not come without some challenges. Leaving your home and your country for four (or more) years can be a scary and financially challenging thing to do. The good news is that now is the time to be an international student! Here are some college application tips for international students. Colleges actually need you Every institution wants to be diverse, and it’s a lot better if they can actually be very diverse and not have to fake it with posed pictures and bloated stats. Many schools will look for a certain quota of international students (though they may not admit to it) so they can reach the level of diversity they desire. You can use this to advantage by showing how diverse you are. Emphasize your diverse background You are from a foreign country. You have a cultural background that most other students at an American university do not have. Share this in your application and your essay. You don’t want to overuse the word “diverse” but it certainly wouldn’t hurt to give examples of how you are diverse. What countries are represented on your campus? Explain why you desire to study in America The school you’re applying to already knows you want to, and they can already assume you’re diverse enough, but you need to share why you want to study at their institution and what you hope to gain there. Share why you chose a particular school, location, etc. Compare an American degree to one from your own country This can tie into explaining why you desire to study in America, but it is a lot more specific. You want a degree, right? You could probably get that degree at a university in your own country, but you chose America. Explain why. Tell the admissions officer reading your application and essay specifically what you hope to gain from studying and experiencing life in the United States. Test scores really do matter For an American student, the score on the SAT or ACT may not hold much weight when compared with everything else on an application. But for you, a foreign student, it is one of the only things available to an admissions team when evaluating your academic work. By being from another country, your transcript and past courses may be Greek (either literally or figuratively) to them. Even if translated into English, the courses may not cross over well into the American system. It is very important that you have a high SAT score (and ACT wouldn’t hurt) to boost your chances of acceptance. TOEFL scores show how you will manage in the classroom Since you are foreign to America, and probably not from an English speaking country, you need to have a high score in the TOEFL. The TOEFL test is the most widely accepted English language test in the world, accepted by more than 8,500 colleges. Admissions officers need to know that you can interact and hold your own in their classrooms before admitting you. This test shows you can speak and understand English. A low score in it may be the thing that lands your application in the trash pile. Visit the campus, personally or virtually First of all, you need to do some form of a visit before applying so you know if you will like it and if you will fit in there for the next few years of your life. But a visit goes further than that. Visiting, even just virtually through their website, allows you to use things you saw and learned about the school in your application and essay to show you have done your research and are prepared for arriving on campus. Of course, there is no secret key to getting accepted to an American university as an international student, just like there is no secret key for American-born students either. But if you use these tips above, do your research on the university of your choice and have the grades and test scores to show off, your chances are high of being accepted. From the very first day you get to college, you are bombarded with organizations wanting you to be a member. Not just a member, but an active member as well. Any campus is bound to have tons of organizations, groups and clubs for you to join. It is also important that you are in some of those organizations. But how do you determine which organizations to join?
Over involvement is something not many are aware of, but it is a big threat to many college students. You will likely find more than just a couple groups you are interested in on your campus, and that means you must make a choice. While you could be active in all of them, joining too many means your time is spread too thin. Don’t let your academics suffer because of over involvement. Find the groups you truly love You might find an interest in a lot of groups, but chances are you really love one or two of them. Join those two and be active in those. Of course, maybe two is not your limit. Find your limit and stick to it. Don’t let yourself slip into too many commitments. Depth Over Breadth You may have heard this saying before if you are familiar with college and even job hunting. It is better to be deep into one or two organizations Don’t overbook your time with too many commitments than just be a member of many. Find those groups you truly love and get involved in them to a higher level. Take leadership positions in them and work to make that group better in the years to come. If your grades start to slip, remember that the group(s) you’re in can help you out! My Personal Involvement For me, two organizations is where I am trying to draw the line, at least for now. I have higher positions in both the Residence Hall Association and Student Government Association on campus – and that’s just about it for my involvement. While that may not sound like a lot, between the two of them I will be busy nearly every day (and I only have class on Tuesdays and Thursdays)! I chose to be involved in the two largest organizations on Indiana State’s campus, but maybe you prefer smaller groups like book clubs, sports groups or academic groups related to your major. There are plenty of options to choose from, you just have to find what fits right for you. Why are textbooks so expensive? Before we can look at anything else here, it is important to talk about why books are so expensive so you can find the right way to beat around the scheme. Coming straight out of high school, where you only had a small (in comparison) book rental fee each year, it can be quite shocking to see your textbook bill come to a total of $500 in many cases. The reason for this is quite simple. College is at a higher level, books are not provided by the school like your high school did, and book companies know the demand is high for textbooks. Therefore, simple economics will tell us what the price is high because demand is high (and supply is limited).
Enough with the economics lesson. You want to have something to learn from your ECON 101 textbook. Do you need the book? My short answer is: yes. You need the book because it is required. You are already paying a lot to go to school, you should take full advantage of your educational opportunities and get the book because you can. Just like you should take advantage of the extras your tuition money pays for, you should also buy the book and take advantage of the added academic benefit as well. Now you’re probably starting at the price tag and hoping the long answer has a better answer for you. Luckily for you, it does. Long answer: You probably don’t need all the books, and if you do, there are ways to cut the cost. Share the book This is a common practice and recommended by nearly every college professional in existence. If you can split the cost of the book with someone else in your same class (like a roommate), you will clearly save money. You need to work out a schedule so you each have equal and adequate study time with the book, but that shouldn’t be too hard to work out. You’ll both likely be fully willing to give the other person the book – just maybe not during finals week. Don’t buy from the school bookstore Buying used books instead of new can save you a lot of money. That $500 price tag I keep mentioning is probably there because you are on the university’s bookstore. That store is good for one thing and one thing only: getting your book list. And that’s assuming your school is like mine and send you there to see what books you need for class. Otherwise, you don’t need that bookstore at all. Instead, you have many options. A quick Google search for something like “cheap college textbooks” reveals many sites that will likely be cheaper than your school’s prices. My personal favorite is Amazon and is my go-to site when it is book buying season. My total cost at the university bookstore is right at $500, and that’s for just 4 textbooks. My total cost at Amazon is under $100 – $98 to be exact. That’s an incredible deal, one that is too good to pass up. Look for an access codeIf your book comes with an access code, you need to make sure you get it. You can spot an access code easily because there is usually an extra fee for the code in the price or it will say “w/ code” in the book title. Unfortunately, these codes are single use and that means you will likely have to buy from the bookstore on this one. So what can you do in this situation? Wait. Wait till you get to class and see what your professor says. They will probably tell you what book you need, what you’ll use it for, etc. on the first day and then you can decide if you need the code and the book, just the book, or nothing at all for that class. It wouldn’t be a terrible idea to wait for all of your classes. That way, you can find out what your professor expects (will there be regular reading, reading quizzes, heavy reading questions on exams, etc.) in addition to finding out about an access code and you can even have an opportunity to find someone to share the book with (which can be hard to do before you even go to class). Of course, this means you actually have to go to class on the first day. But you planned on doing that anyways, right? Yes, you probably need most of the books on your list. But there are ways to lessen your cost and you may not need all of them. Play it smart and you can save money while still acing the class. If you’re lucky, all the material will be online and there won’t even be an assigned book for your class at all! |
